In the tropical north we operate Australia’s only 5 star, fully tented (all canvas) hunting camp with all facilities, spacious comfortable individual accommodation, and 24hr mains power via a generator and battery powered inverter system.
Unlimited mains pressure hot showers, daily laundry service, spacious living quarters with minibar, international power adaptors and full selection of wines and spirits to your order. Air-conditioned 4WDs for hunting transportation, fully equipped boat and gear for fishing excursions. Quality bolt action rifles both LH and RH available and lever actions for those wanting extra firepower when pig hunting. (Nominal charge for ammunition used) Satellite telephones available at call cost. In short we have your every need covered!
Sambar hunting takes place from comfortable fully serviced lodge style accommodation in the Victorian Alps.
HUNT PRICES include all meals, alcoholic beverages, daily laundry service and all transport whilst in camp, in short all found! We pay for all hunting permits, licenses and fees for the importation of your firearms and organize the necessary paperwork. (Quality Bolt action Rifles in suitable calibers are available for use at no charge for clients not wishing to travel with firearms.)
Payment Terms: A deposit of 50% of daily rates, or packaged price, is payable on booking. The balance and transfers to camp (if using air charter) is payable 14 days prior to arrival. Trophy fees are payable on all game taken or wounded at the conclusion of the hunt.
We prefer International Telegraphic transfer for major payments and cash or travelers checks for trophy fees and incidentals. We also accept Visa and Master Card credit cards for deposits and payments of trophy fees and incidentals. Note: There are no additional charges or hidden costs.
Booking Amendments: You may reschedule dates, subject to availability, or transfer your booking to the following calendar year at no additional charge, provided we are advised prior to March 1st. of the hunt year.
A fee may be charged for changes requested after that deadline.
Cancellations: A US$1000 fee will be charged for cancellations requested prior to March 1st of the hunt year. Cancellations after March 1st will result in forfeiture of your deposit. We advise you to take travel insurance to protect you against the possibility of having to reschedule or cancel due to insurable events.
CLIMATE: The Buffalo hunting area enjoys a tropical climate with hot, humid and wet summers and warm to hot, dry winters. Our hunting season is confined to the winter months from May to October when you can expect dry conditions and daytime temperatures between 25 and 35 Celsius (75 to 95 Fahrenheit) and nights between 10 and 20 Celsius (45 to 70 Fahrenheit). Rainfall is an extremely rare occurrence during the hunting season.
(The coolest months are June to August; fishing is less productive in the coolest months.)
CLOTHING: In the tropics dull green, khaki or camouflage clothing in cotton or other light material and stout boots are recommended for hunting. One warm jacket is all that is required for the colder evenings. Two to three changes and one pair of camp footwear are all that is required as a daily laundry service is included in our rates. A light wide brimmed hat is recommended.
HEALTH: Australia is free of all major communicable diseases including malaria. However we recommend visitors ensure that they have current vaccinations for tetanus and polio. All our camp facilities are screened to exclude insects and repellents are freely available in camp. Supplies of sunscreen to protect against sunburn are also provided.
FIREARMS: There is no specified minimum caliber for dangerous game in Australia but we recommend a caliber no smaller than 9.3mm (.366 caliber) with a muzzle energy of at least 3,500ftlb and bullet weight of at least 285gr for hunting Water Buffalo and Scrub Bull at close quarters. A rifle over .400 caliber would be ideal. The minimum legal caliber for Sambar is .270. We recommend .30 06 or greater with a muzzle energy of 3000ftlb or more.
BOW HUNTING: Is legal for all species and we have a 100% success rate on Buffalo, Scrub Bull and Boar with Bow hunters.
Helicopter hunting
With the use of a helicopter you can access superb hunting and see so much game that in one day it is possible to take several SCI Gold medal buffalo with an excellent chance of a top 50 trophy bull and cow. (Many cows can carry horns longer than bulls)
Shorter duration helicopter only hunts are available ex Katherine and can be arranged by prior order.
